




Merritt Engineering has recently completed its $10 Million dollar Facade Restoration, Roof Replacement, FAE Equipment and Structural Repair project at 395 Flatbush Avenue Extension in Brooklyn, NY. Completed work includes recoating and resealing of the entire curtain wall façade, the installation of a new hybrid roof system (with a lightweight concrete insulation), the reinforcement of the roof top steel track for the window washing equipment, the replacement of the FAE equipment, and the reinforcement and fireproofing of miscellaneous steel beams and columns.
Known for its dramatic presence and across from beautiful Bryant Park, 500 5th Avenue is home to top quality office and retail tenants. Merritt Engineering was responsible for restoring the building’s delicate facades consisting of limestone and terra cotta. MEC also performed a roof replacement and Local Law 11/98 inspections at the NYC Landmark.
Located in bustling SoHo, 530 Broadway boasts beautiful terra cotta, wood windows, cornice and other ornamental features. MEC was able to develop a comprehensive facade restoration program to repair and maintain the historic integrity of the building. Additional work included a partial roof restoration, wood window restoration and cornice restoration; all while working closely with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
In 2012, Hurricane Sandy left considerable damage on the roof of this Long Island office property. Merritt Engineering provided services to review the roof damages caused by the hurricane, and developed documents for the replacement of the roofs at 1981 and 1983 Marcus Avenue. MEC also completed a parking garage restoration at both properties. Based on a structural survey performed of the 3-level parking garage, Merritt established a structural plan which best suited the client’s needs.
Chelsea Market is one of the most trafficked and talked-about, destinations in New York City.In 2009 Merritt Engineering completed a brick facade restoration, roof restoration, sidewalk replacement and a steel vault restoration.
Merritt Engineering worked closely with the Port Authority and utilized proper codes and regulations to complete this roof replacement project at JFK International Airport.
MEC completed a sidewalk replacement and a steel vault restoration at New York Community Bank.
1211 Avenue of the Americas, a 45 story office tower, is the world headquarters for News Corporation. During ongoing work, Merritt Engineering stayed mindful of active studios and the main News Corp electrical feed center. The plaza restoration project consisted of full removal of existing plaza pavers along all facades, the installation of a new waterproofing system throughout the plaza area and sidewalk and vault repairs.
MEC began construction on this Financial District skyscaper in 2009, repairing the Plaza level due to excessive leaks and post 9/11 damages. Water testing was performed to determine the source of water infiltration and repair details were then determined. MEC also assisted with the investigation of water intrusion into the existing Con-Edison Vaults associated with the building.
One of New York’s premier shopping malls, Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, has undergone many upgrades and improvements since it first opened in 1956.Merritt Engineering was retained to complete a series of projects including a Roof Replacement, Structural Assessment, Exterior Masonry Wall Restoration, Waterproofing of Interior Fountains, Exterior Signage and Construction Monitoring.
