




Merritt Engineering fully restored the 2-level parking garage at Amversev. This consisted of full depth concrete replacement, patching, painting of all interior walls, and the application of a new traffic deck coating system.The replacement and restoration of sidewalks, curbs, main parking lot and roadways were also completed in 2012.
A complete structural restoration of the tower’s parking garage was engineered by Merritt, including demolition and re-pouring of sections of concrete slabs, repairs and replacements of corroded reinforcing steel, repairs and re-surfacing of damaged concrete, replacement of drains, and the application of a waterproof, oil-resistant deck coating. Partitioning of the project into four separate phases and close monitoring of the construction progress allowed the 24 hour garage to maintain its day-to-day operations with minimal service disruptions.
Merritt Engineering has performed multiple restorations at Amversev including sidewalk replacement, expansion replacement, resurfacing of parking lots and roadways, planter waterproofing and leak repairs. In 2012 the sidewalk, curb, apron and parking lot restoration work were also completed.Their 2-level parking garage was also restored in 2010. 205 East 22nd Street, formerly a brewery, is also called Gramercy Park Habitat. Merritt completed a full façade and roof restoration in 2012.
Located in the Upper East Side Historic District of Manhattan, the repairs at 565 Park Avenue required approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The front façade of this 12 story, 102 years old building consists of masonry and decorative terra cotta stones. During the façade restoration several spalled stones where replaced with precast stones that matched the original in color, texture and profile. Merritt was able to salvage many of original cracked stones by pinning them and injecting repair grout into the cracks.
After a tragic plane crash into the north side of building in 2006, Merritt Engineering performed emergency façade repairs. After 2006 Merritt continued to service the building including a full façade restoration, terrace waterproofing and Local Law 11/98 inspection.The Belaire has spectacular views of the East River.
Located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the Manhattan House has become a Modernist icon with a distinctive white brick exterior and progressive post-war design. Designed in 1950 and Landmarked in 2007, the development continues to preserve the purity, charisma and functionality that it has become known for.As part of the development’s continued maintenance and improvement program, Merritt Engineering was retained to inspect and evaluate the façade conditions of the 21-story, 10-tower condominium complex. The repairs designed and specified by Merritt include brick replacement, re-pointing, window lintel waterproofing, window caulking, parapet replacement and reconstruction of corner wall sections. Merritt has also completed a roof replacement and Local Law 11/98 inspections at the building.
The Prasada, located at 50 Central Park West in New York City, originally constructed in 1907, is a prewar building known for its intricate exterior details and impressive entrance. This famous landmark building had visible façade deterioration which Merritt Engineering Consultants, P.C. was hired to address in a multi-million dollar restoration project.The scope of work included a full facade restoration, sidewalk & vault restoration, steel reinforcement & replacement and a complete restoration of the grand front entrance.Merritt also provided the special inspection services on this project, including Structural Stability inspections required by the NYC Building Code, throughout the entire project.
Given its coveted landmark status in 1984, the Rockefeller Apartments are still one of Manhattan’s most aesthetically pleasing buildings. Standing tall across from the Museum of Modern Art’s sculpture garden Merritt Engineering was retained to complete the façade & window restoration of the very visible exterior. A full roof & terrace replacement and waterproofing was also completed along with Local Law 11/98 repairs.
Rivergate is a 706-unit hi-rise luxury rental building located on East 34th Street in Manhattan. Merritt Engineering developed a program for the restoration of the masonry facades, concrete spandrels, balconies and for the replacement of the roofing systems at the main roof and terrace levels.MEC inspected 350+ balcony railings to comply with Local Law 11/98 Amended Rule 103-04 (Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York), which now requires close inspection of the balusters, intermediate rails, and filler panels of all balcony railings on a building to determine whether the railings are safe.
